My Spring Break!
My spring break was wonderful. Every year I've had to spend my entire break in church for a Jurisdictional workshop. Not that I don't enjoy myself at times but I was becoming so tired of the tradition so this year I got lucky. In Jackson, all of the schools spring break was different from ours therefore, the workshop was the week after mine. Anyhow, I had the chance to go to Birmingham, Alabama to visit a sister/friend of mine. I stayed to entir week and how much fun it was. We shopped, played pool, had a day of pampering and so much more. I was so happy to be out of MS and didn't want to come back but I knew I had responsibilities. I hope I have an opportunity to go back and visit.

Mel's Idea
A photo essay that describes something about your life and who you are. However, you're not describing the picture, the meaning should go beyond the portrait.

A Crazy Week!!!
The past week has been so crazy for me. I've been having problems with my stupid phone which of course is a razr vm3 and you know how those mess up all the time. I had to buy another one last tuesday and yesterday the new one stopped working. I haven't even dropped it and now it's cutting on and off and it won't charge. One minute the battery is full and the next minute it's dead. I don't want to spend anymore money on a phone and so now I know cellular south is going to give me a cheap, ugly phone but my upgrade is not until June and we all know their phones "suck." On top of that I couldn't get an interview with anybody for my paper and I tried and tried to meet with my RA but she wasn't available. I've finally had a chance to talk to a couple of students about the residence life and other RA's on campus. However, I'm still trying to talk with my own. I know right...... How crazy is that!!! With or without her the paper will be completed.

Sometimes we as people try to hold on to things that we need to let go of. Those things could be so comfortable to us that we feel a sense of security when we have it and a lot of times it's a distraction which also hinders us from those priorites that should be FIRST(#1). I sometimes find myself in that particular situation and I'm trying to learn how to let go. Fasting and praying is what keeps me going strong. Without God in my life, I would be lost and He needs to be my first priority. God is a jealous God and if we put "things" or even "people" before him then we are no longer worthy of the blessings that God has set aside just for us.

ABOUT ME!!!
Hi There,
My name is Melanie S. Johnson and I am a freshman at Southern Miss. I am 18 years old and was born in Meridian, MS. I am the daughter of two loving parents, Reginald Johnson and Angelia McCain. I currently live in Madison, MS, however I graduated from MURRAH HIGH in Jackson, MS. I attend New Life Ministries Church of God in Christ where my stepfather, Henry McCain is Pastor. My major is music education with emphasis in voice. After I complete my undergraduate studies I plan to get my masters and doctorate in music. I love to sing and play the piano. Over the years I've been a part of many choirs, ensembles, and operas. Singing is my passion and I have worked extremely hard to get where I am. I believe that music brings out the best in me and when I sing I show people who I really am. My goal for the future is to become a vocal coach at a college or university. I would like to do broadway productions in New York and eventually open a performing arts school for unfortunate children around the world.
